Washing:
Before washing, always look at the label and carefully follow the instructions. Most good quality detergents, washing machines and fabrics are manufactured to ensure that when the stated instructions are adhered to and the garment is washing according to the said temperature and dried as per the procedures mentioned; they will wash well and look good after each wash.

The following pointers should be used as guidelines for all garments:
• Prior to washing, close all zips, undo buttons, check pockets for loose or sharp objects, flatten out collars and cuffs.
• Always refer to the label before washing.
• Turn garments inside out to reduce and avoid abrasion caused by other garments, trims and contamination by fibres from other garments during the wash cycle.
• Always check to ensure that the washing machine is not overloaded.
• Use a good quality detergent and ensure that the correct amount of detergent is used.

Problem

Precaution / Solution

Garment
Shrinkage

Excessive shrinkage is primarily due to factors such as heat and major agitation during the wash cycle.

Fading due
to sunlight

The effects of fading due to sunlight is both harmful and irreversible. Constant and prolonged exposure to sunlight should be reduced as much as possible.

Pilling and
Bobbling

Abrasion, lack of care and timely washing of the garment leads to fibre balls appearing on the surface of the fabric. Remove by mild brushing.

Trims, accessories breaking off

Trims and accessories such as zips, toggles, pocket linings and elastic cords are constructed for normal usage. Extensive abuse of the garment involving sharp objects, work areas with machinery and even the occasional outburst of brute force results in the garment being damaged. Precaution and care should be taken at all times.

Colour staining

Wash similar colours together. Do not leave damp garments together for any length of time.
